About Us
Sommerville Valley Caravan Park and Resort were built on 80 acres of private property that was originally a farm offering a spectacular setting, overlooking Storm King Dam. This was purchased by a Dutch family in the early 2000’s. They fell in love with the area and had a dream to develop the magical spot they had discovered. The same Dutch family still runs Sommerville Valley with the help of a small team of staff.
Tourist Park
Sommerville Valley Tourist Park was established on a private property, 12 km from Stanthorpe in a beautiful and quiet area on Storm King Dam. Spacious powered sites, bushy unpowered sites and small budget cabins are available. Storm King Dam offers great swimming, fishing, boating and canoeing.
Sommerville Valley is close to wineries, berry farms and national parks. Facilities include: modern camp kitchens, amenities blocks with hot showers and laundry, under cover barbecue areas, community room.
The Granite Belt
Sommerville Valley Tourist Park and Resort is an ideal base to explore the beautiful region of “The Granite Belt”. We are almost 1000 metres in elevation, where the air seems fresher, the sky bluer and the stars brighter. It is a perfect place not only to retreat from the stress and worry of everyday life but to discover a landscape of spectacular beauty, experience four distinct seasons, taste quality local produce and sample award winning wines.
Check out wonderful cafes and restaurants throughout the region all offering delicious menus from local produce. Order a picnic basket and dine in amongst the vines, the Christmas trees or the bush. There are so many unique opportunities.
The Granite Belt is not only the highest wine region in Australia, it is unique with its longer growing season and deep granitic gravels that produce exceptional wines. The cool climate wines have their own individual complexities that are extremely popular and ready for you to taste!
It is a must for you to explore our unique National Parks, where giant granite formations emerge from thick forests and native bird and wildlife can be found.
