Storm King dam is on our door step ! There is a diversity of birdlife and other native wildlife attracted to the dam which visitors can enjoy as well as a variety of fish and turtles. Great for swimming, fishing , kayaking canoeing, rowing and boating.
There are no restrictions on boat size but a boating permit is required and can be obtained from the Southern Downs Regional council. Fish in the dam include golden perch, Murray cod, jew and river black fish. This is a Queensland impoundment dam so you need to purchase a Stocked Impoundment Permit before fishing. These are available at some post offices and online at the Queensland government site – Fishing in stocked impoundments.
